Let’s take a coffee break together!
Speaker: Dr. Shyra Barberstock,
Co-Founder, CEO/President of Kabaonish Coffee/Tea Company
https://www.proudlyindigenous.co
Topic: ‘Paths We Create- Women Entrepreneurs & Power of Story’
In this session, Shyra shares her journey as an Indigenous woman entrepreneur and storyteller. She traces the spark that led to Okwaho Equal Source, an Indigenous consultancy and think tank focused on social innovation and economic reconciliation, and the creation of Kebaonish, an Indigenous and woman-led tea and coffee company inspired by Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee values.
Drawing on more than a decade of entrepreneurship, Shyra explores how story shapes our brands, our leadership, and the impact we carry into our communities. Her talk blends lived experience, cultural insight, and practical wisdom, offering a grounded look at what it means to build purpose-driven companies that honour identity, relationship, and place.
‘Kebaonish believes that by incorporating these teachings of good minds and a good heart, we can bring people closer to harmony in the world, and it all starts with a cup of coffee or tea’
‘By choosing Kabaonish Coffee/Tea, you are supporting a vision of Canada where everyone has a place at the table’
