We are grateful to our WMB community that have supported us over the past 10 years and we continue to grow with new community members joining. This year was a ‘recovery year’ for many of us, we remain hopeful and positive in our thoughts and plans as we move into 2023!
We appreciate the collaborative project that WMB has embraced with Career Pathways Magazine launched this past June, by 101 Media ( with Publisher / Owner Josie Walsh), to support, encourage, inspire, educate, and provide informative, resourceful information for young adults and those that may be transitioning into new careers. The Ontario government is providing over $10 million to help Mitacs — an organization that builds research partnerships between postsecondary institutions and industry — create 2,700 paid internships for postsecondary students which will help them gain the skills they need to secure in-demand jobs after graduation.
Two particularly relevant Mitacs programs include:
Kingston Economic Development Corporation in collaboration with Queen’s University are once again offering the Queen’s Career Apprenticeship: Kingston (QCA:K) program.
QCA:K connects new graduates from the arts, humanities, and social science disciplines within the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queens University with a Kingston employer. The objective is to help new graduates launch their career while retaining skilled talent in the community. Employers who commit to a 12-month contract with a participant are reimbursed for four months of the gross salary to a maximum of $2,500 per month.
